Introduction
The current syllabus for this qualification is saved
below, filename Syllabus. This syllabus will be live and used for
examination purposes up to and including examinations taken on or
before the 30th June 2011. Candidates taking examinations from the
1st July 2011 onwards should refer to the new Syllabus entitled
Syllabus July 2011 onwards.
The National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP)
Awarding Body is committed to raising standards within the property
sector through the provision of accredited, nationally recognised
qualifications. The NFOPP Awarding Body is independent and
recognised by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations
Regulator (Ofqual). This means we have to follow strict guidelines
and maintain quality standards in the provision of all our
qualifications.
The Technical Award in Real Property Auctioneering is a Level 3
qualification within the National Qualifications Framework, which
means it is broadly equivalent to A-Level standard.
The qualification is open to all and is a requirement for
membership of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers
(NAVA). It is an introductory qualification ideal for candidates
wanting to gain or improve existing knowledge in the key areas
related to real property auctioneering.

Structure
The qualification syllabus is divided into 4 Units as
follows:
Unit 1:Health & Safety, Security and General Law relating to
Real Property Auctioneering
Unit 2: Law Relating to Real Property Auctions
Unit 3: Real Property Auctioneering Practice and Procedures
Unit 4: Property Appraisal and the Auction Process
Studying

You can study for the Technical Award in the comfort of your
home or office, using open learning materials, or by supported
distance learning facilitated by our preferred technical award
supplier MOL. This means that you can take advantage of flexible
learning which can fit into your lifestyle. To purchase the

It will usually take 130 hours to prepare for a Technical
Award. As a general guide, we expect that those who have been
working within property agency for some time may need fewer hours
of study whereas those who are new to the profession may need
more. However these are benchmarks only as it is entirely
dependent upon the learner, their learning style and their previous
knowledge.
Examinations
The Technical Award is divided into 4 Units and each Unit is
assessed by a multiple-choice exam which is taken on a computer at
a test centre. Each exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions
which must be answered within 30 minutes.
When you have completed your studies and are ready to sit the
examinations you need to register as a learner with the
NFoPP Awarding Body and once approved you can book your examination
either on line or via telephone with Pearson Vue (telephone: 0161
8557 537).
To use the on-line booking system you will need to login to you account using the username
beginning with a 'Q'. Examinations can be booked a
minimum of 24 hours in advance, depending on the centre
availability. Re-sits, if required can be booked using the
online booking system 10 days after your last examination.
There is a 72 hour cancellation policy in place, if you need to
reschedule or cancel an examination you will need to provide 72
hours notice in order move the monies paid. No exemptions
will be granted to this rule.
The online booking system gives candidates the choice of the
date and location of their examination. There are approximately 150
participating test centres throughout the UK which are available
for examinations regularly during working hours.

The study materials, which are purchased through MOL,
are:

Members of NAVA, ICBA, ARLA or NAEA can take advantage of
the member discount. The member MUST be the person who is
going to undertake the qualification.

Currently if you wish to take advantage of the above examination
discounts please call Pearson Vue on 0161 8557 537, the discounts
will not be applied using the on-line booking system at present,
and you will be charged at the full price of £50 each if you make
your bookings this way.
Exam fees are payable at the time of booking and the same fees
apply to any re-sits that may be required.
How long will the qualification take?
If your first pass in 1 or more Units was achieved via the
e-assessment method you have 12
months from achieving this pass in which to
complete all 4 Units of the qualification.
If you fail to achieve a pass in all 4 units within the relevant
timescale you will need to re-start the qualification.
Results and Certification
Each Unit has a pass mark of 65%. You will be notified of your
provisional results at the test centre immediately after finishing
your exams. A formal confirmation of your results will be
posted to you at the address provided during the initial booking
process. These results letters are typically posted out on
the Monday of the week commencing after the week in which you
attended your exam. A full qualification certificate will be
issued within four weeks of completion of all four units.

Further Qualifications
Success in the Technical Award is the first step in gaining
qualifications in your profession. You may wish to develop your
skills and knowledge further by proceeding to other relevant
qualifications.
